Musholm was absolutely buzzing Wednesday, when action finally got underway at the 2024 European Championship in Slagelse, Denmark.

The opening ceremony saw the eight competing teams take center stage before speeches by Parasport Denmark president John Petersson, deputy mayor Troels Brandt from the municipality of Slagelse and Fabio Rodo, chairman of the IPCH, officially opened the tournament.

At 3 PM, Denmark and Belgium began warm-ups in front of a packed crowd, and 15 minutes later the teams charged into real game action for the first time this week.

The opening match saw Denmark take charge initially, but Belgium were able to withstand the Danish pressure for a long time and continued to threaten the home favorites well into the second half. At the end, Denmark did pull away to a convicing 7-1 win.

The following match between the Netherlands and Germany also started off tightly contested with the score tied at 3-3 late in the first half. The Dutch players found their groove, however, and ended up taking a strong 8-3 victory with them into Day 2.

Thursday, Finland and Italy will get things rolling with their first game of the tournament at 10 AM.
